Paul O’Mahony

Paul completed the Motley Theatre Design Course in London and has worked on a host of different projects and secured a number of awards. Grease is his first musical design project and his first time working with the Cork Opera House.

Some of his design work includes the following: Macbeth, The Seafarer, Fool for Love, Saved and Blue/Orange, (Abbey and Peacock Theatres), An Enemy of the People, Little Women and Faith Healer (Gate Theatre), Love and Money, Further Than the Furthest Thing, Pyrenees, Blood and The Country (HATCH Theatre Company), The Talk of the Town (HATCH Theatre Company, Landmark Productions and Dublin Theatre Festival), Underneath the Lintel (Landmark Productions), The Importance of Being Earnest, Solemn Mass for a Full Moon in Summer, Is this About Sex? and Don Carlos, The Girl Who Forgot to Sing Badly (The Ark/Theatre Lovett), Medea, Pineapple (Calipo Theatre Company), Celebrity (Peer to Peer Theatre Company), Black Milk (Prime Cut Productions), Benefactors (b*spoke Theatre Company), This is Our Youth, Wedding Day at the Cro-Magnon’s, Roberto Zucco, This is Not a Life, Pale Angel and Self-Accusation, Dodgems (CoisCéim Dance Theatre), Hades, The Two Houses, The Green Fool and Epic (Upstate Theatre Project).

Paul’s achievements also include the following nominations: The Irish Times Theatre Awards Best Design 2008 for Rough Magic Theatre Company and 2011’s The House & Pygmalion; Absolut Fringe Festival nomination for Best Overall Design 2010 (Siren Productions), Jane Snow Award nomination 2005 (Bedrock Productions).
