Leanne Moore (‘Sandy’)

Leanne first came to public attention in 2008 when she won the sixth and final series of RTE’s You’re a Star competition. Following that success she went on to claim the lead role in the pre West End production of Sleeping Beauty. Numerous stage roles followed with Leanne cast in productions in some of Ireland’s best known venues including The National Concert Hall, The Tivoli Theatre, Cork Opera House, The Bord Gais Energy Theatre and The Gaiety Theatre where she took the title role in the annual Christmas Pantomime for two consecutive years. Leanne has also had a number one single in the Irish charts with On Wings a feat her own mother achieved in 1993 with Life Without you making them the first mother and daughter in Ireland to do so.

As a singer Leanne has been part of the Irish representation for the Eurovision Song Contest performing on two occasions as a backing vocalist with Jedward in Dusseldorf (2011) and Azerbaijan (2012). She also sang backing vocals for this years entrant Ryan Dolan in Malmo, Sweden making her third consecutive appearances on the Eurovision stage.

Along with enjoying a musical career, Leanne returned to college to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Broadcast Media. She now writes free-lance for many national publications including The Irish Sun and The Sunday Times. Leanne is also no stranger to the world of TV. She is currently the Xpose.ie Showbiz Correspondent contributing to TV3’s Ireland AM and Xpose and provides the showbiz news for both Xpose.ie and Dublin radio station FM104.

Playing the role of Sandy is a dream come true for Limerick girl Leanne who deems it the “only part I’ve ever wanted to play”.
