David Hayes

David studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music for over 18 years before plunging into a busy career that to date has included work as M.D., conductor, arranger, orchestrator, keyboard player and producer in theatre, radio, TV and studio. And this year he has ventured into the field of education with lectures and masterclasses at DKIT, UCC, CIT and The Academy of Popular Music.

Since last Summer’s Sound of Music in Cork, he has been busy as MD for: The Notre Dame Gathering Concert at The O2 for RTÉ and South Wind Blows Ltd. (Philip King).; The second series of The Voice for Shinawil and RTÉ; The Late Late Toyshow for RTÉ (for 3rd year running); The School Around The Corner for Tyrone Productions and RTÉ; Alice in Wonderland at Cork Opera House (And the pantomimes at the Helix and the Olympia Theatre!).

In addition, he was engaged by Prodijig for their Footstorm UK / Irish Tour and by Josh Groban for the Irish date of his World Tour. He has also continued educational work for Gill & MacMillan and COGG on a new primary school project as Gaeilge. He co-produced the 2013 Irish Eurovision entry – Only Love Survives – only it didn’t – as we know!!!

In September 2012, he was MD for the premiere of The Promise, an original musical drama staged at The Helix, with a dream cast and again directed by Bryan. He was recently delighted to play for Disney’s The Lion King – both in Dublin and also for the UK Tour in Birmingham. In April 2012 he was engaged by The Abbey Theatre as Music Supervisor for their critically acclaimed world premiere of Alice In Funderland, nominated for Best Production at the Irish Times Theatre Awards 2013. 2012 also saw him in the role of MD for Wexford based percussion ensemble Extreme Rhythm and their Primal showcase at Wexford Opera House. This was further to co-producing the soundtrack for their X-Factor appearance with Kelly Clarkson.

He is absolutely delighted to be back at the Opera House for another term of epic proportions with Bryan, David, Killian, Carol Anne, Ronan, Maria and all of the crew, cast and production team. Go Ringtails!
