Time to dust off your leather jackets, pull on your bobby-socks and take a trip back in time as bad boy Danny and the girl-next-door Sandy fall in love all over again.
Cork Opera House is delighted to officially announce this year’s summer musical Grease! in what promises to be yet another spectacular production from acclaimed director Bryan Flynn and his creative team.
Running from Friday 12 July, this lavish production will transform the Opera House stage and its surrounds into 1950’s Rydell High where the familiar summer romance between Danny (Carl Stallwood) and Sandy (Leanne Moore) will unfold in a music and dance extravaganza with performances of the most memorable and unforgettable songs from the hit movie including You’re The One That I Want, Grease Is The Word, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Sandy, Greased Lightnin’ and many more.
Ahead of a hectic schedule in preparation for the show, Bryan Flynn had this to say:
“Grease is a show which is full of energy, verve and toe tapping tunes. This new production will feature the best singers, dancers and actors ever to be assembled in Ireland. We will be presenting for the audiences a fun- filled, colourful, rocking and rolling flashback to the 1950’s era. With stunning scenery and costumes, a rocking band, and a first class cast, Grease will give audiences a flavour of being a teenager in the 1950’s, when dancing and putting grease in your hair were the most important things in life! Grease will be the best party in town this summer!”
Guaranteed to be a hit with audiences’ young and old alike, join Danny, Sandy and friends for a truly mesmerizing and unforgettable experience. Grease is most definitely the word at Cork Opera House this summer! So throw your mittens around your kittens and hand jive the night away with the show that will make you want to stand up and shout, A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop A-wop-bam-boom!
